Bruce Sterling Expounds on His Layar-Sponsored AR Design Class [VIDEO]

Adriane Goetz October 10, 2011

Throughout the summer, we’ve covered some of the highlights of Bruce Sterling’s Layar-sponsored AR design class at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

As all good things must come to an end, so has this class, but not without some impressive final student projects!

In this video, Bruce Sterling talks about his goals and experience of teaching the first-ever Augmented Reality Design class. His students also comment on their experiences within the class and their views on AR in general.

Read all of our posts related to the design class and watch all of the student project videos here.

Video produced for Layar by Campfire Creative.

I know you guys are trying to keep the hype up and all, but really thinking that this was (one of) the first AR Design class is a bit silly. Other folks have been doing AR design classes for a long time.

Blair MacIntyre and Jay David Bolter for instance have been running AR Design classes for (media) designers (+ doing a lot of research bringing the tools to designers & artists) since 2001! ( = over ten years of experience).

Please show a bit more respect and credit to the people that paved the way, instead of limiting yourself to writing these marketing-driven-bs.
